12/22/2017

USA, Missouri: After ABB announced that it would discontinue production of transformers in St. Louis, Missouri as part of a wide-ranging corporate realignment, the company said 120 employees at its St. Louis plant would lose their jobs.

“This staged restructuring is scheduled to begin soon after the announcement, with final shutdown of the St. Louis facility by the end of 2018,” said Chris Shigas, ABB’s U.S. director of media relations, in an email to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The job losses are consequent to the realignment that will see the production moving to Boston. The company will be adding jobs in Boston.

The St. Louis plant has been in operation for more than 50 years. The company said that the facility will continue to focus on engineering and service activities.
